Located on Water Street in downtown Port Huron, the Federal District Court of Port Huron serves as an integral part of the Eastern District of Michigan court system. The courthouse itself is a sight to be seen, as it has recently been meticulously restored to reflect its historical beauty and significance for the City of Port Huron. Presided over by Judge Robert Cleland, we have handled some of the most serious federal cases here.

One of our cases in particular, the Devil’s Disciple Motorcycle Gang racketeering case took place here. Judge Cleland presided over multiple trials and a slew of defendants. Another case we handled there was the Pontiac Heroin drug dealing organization known as the “TEAM.” Needless to say, the Port Huron Federal Court is equipped to handle major complex federal cases.

Judge Cleland is the former elected prosecutor of St. Clair County. He is a no nonsense judge who does not want to hear excuses from criminal defendants, defense attorneys, or prosecutors. Judge Cleland expects the lawyers that appear before him to practice law at a high level and always be prepared and follow the rules. Although we can see how some lawyers may not like that, we do because we are always prepared and we practice federal criminal law at a high level! Judge Cleland can be a tough sentencing judge, especially when the defendant does not seem to be taking responsibility for their actions.
